There would have been doubts on Glen Durrant and whether he could match his major form in his first year as he made his debut at the 2020 PDC World Championship but he showed he can claiming the match in straight sets.
Durrant hit a 96 average, five 180s as well as a spectacular big fish 170 checkout to secure the victory against Damon Heta who struggled on doubles only hitting 3/12.
Durrant secured the opening set without reply with Heta having missed multiple darts at doubles in the early going which blighted his game.
Heta finally got on the board with him hitting a second 180 and an 83 checkout for a break of throw in 14 darts. Durrant despite that was game to the task and hit a second 180 to move 2-1 up.
Durrant wrapped up the set in style with a brilliant 170 checkout as the big fish was reeled in once again by the multiple BDO World Champion.
Despite that, Heta led in the third set but Durrant cleaned up 78 for 1-1 and despite Heta holding to go 2-1 up, Durrant went on to claim it in a deciding leg.
