Frank Posthumus and Wyan Alders seemingly set the world record for the amount of time playing darts or so they thought. A five-year-old record of almost 51 hours of continuous throwing darts seemingly disappeared without any issues in Assen.

But it now appears that a new record had already been set a few months before they attempted to break the initial world record. Two British players appeared to have played for 58 hours in July 2019, but that record had not yet been processed by Guinness World Records and so this was not known to the duo who attempted it.
"This p***s us off, because you probably knew for a long time that we were making an effort that would be worth nothing. You had already had three months of evidence in your hands from the other record attempt," they wrote to the book's publisher.
Guinness World Records replied as a result and said that they do not monitor every record constantly.
"We do not have the capacity to continuously monitor each record that everyone has requested individually," the publisher said.
The duo have said that they accept that their record will not be placed in the book.
‘We give the British the record, but the Guinness World Records way of working is stinging us. Nevertheless, no one will take away the pride we had when we broke the record, executed exactly according to the Guinness World Records rules.’ they said to RTV Drenthe.
