Dimitri van den Bergh is the last player through to the semi-finals at the 2024
World Grand Prix and will face off against Mike de Decker on Saturday night after taking down
Joe Cullen in a comeback win.
Thus has been the order of the day with multiple wins coming by way of losing the first set before roaring back and for Van den Bergh, it was no different as he came back to win 3-1. He is now into his first World Grand Prix semi-final hitting seven 180's en route.
After winning the UK Open earlier this season, Van den Bergh who hasn't performed since could yet find himself with a second major title this weekend.
Cullen took the initiative early in the tie sewing up the deciding leg on double 16 to claim the early impetus. But Van den Bergh started to surge and he came back strongly and levelled up the tie quickly.
The second set was claimed 3-1 by the Belgian as he pinned an 11-darter en route to getting back on level terms against 'The Rockstar'.
The UK Open champion continued that tear as he took out 90 on the bullseye to go in front having hit six 180's. He had come from behind again and with Cullen waiting at the time on double 18, he took the lead in sets and in the match.
Cullen had to come from behind again just as he did against Chris Dobey and Daryl Gurney. But 'The Dreammaker' quelled those dreams. Cullen's average in the end sat at only 79 as Van den Bergh went well on his way with a 109 checkout to make it 2-1. Only getting in last dart cost Cullen as Van den Bergh hit a 17-darter on double 18 to seal the win.
