Fallon Sherrock's World Darts Championships hopes ended by Jermaine Wattimena at the Alexandra Palace

Jermaine Wattimena has ended the World Darts Championship hopes of Fallon Sherrock, fighting back from a set behind to win 3-1 and set up a second round tie with Martin Schindler.

Four years to the day since her ground-breaking triumph over Ted Evetts, Sherrock seemed in the mood to cause more sensation. After the first four legs went with throw, the 'Queen of the Palace' broke in the deciding leg to take an early lead and send the Ally Pally crowd into an uproar.

in set 2 though, Sherrock's levels had dropped ever so slightly, opening to door for Wattimena who took his chance. The Dutchman winning the set 3-1 to level up the match and get the game back on throw.

Wattimena kept the momentum going to start the third set with a comfortable hold of throw. Sherrock meanwhile continued to drop off and despite some dodgy doubling, Wattimena swept through the third 3-0 to move just one away from the win.

With Sherrock making a hash of the of a 60 finish to start the fourth set positively, Wattimena punished again. After Wattimena wired double 16 for a 105, Sherrock pinned tops for a much needed leg. Sherrock held throw in the next leg and the momentum seemed to have switched right back around. With Sherrock throwing for double 8 for the set however, she slipped into the single 16 and busted. Wattimena punished phenomenally with a ruthless 110 to move within one leg. After Wattimena missed four for the match, Sherrock had a chance to level up but squandered two for the set allowing the Dutchman to return, nail double 5 and take the win.
