After the World Series of Darts has dominated the PDC calendar as of late, the European Tour will return with the Hungarian Darts Trophy set to take place between 2-4 September, 2022.
Michael van Gerwen while skipping other remaining tournaments will be in Budapest, as will other top seeds in Luke Humphries, Gerwyn Price, Michael Smith, Rob Cross and Peter Wright - with the latter returning after gallstones surgery.
The other 32 starting spots are distributed through various qualification tournaments. Dave Chisnall, Rowby-John Rodriguez, Stephen Bunting, Simon Whitlock, Chris Dobey, Ian White and Raymond van Barneveld are among the main names.
The Hungarian Darts Trophy is only the second time on the PDC calendar. The first edition took place in 2021 and was won by Price, who was too strong for Michael Smith in the final, 8-2.
