From Friday, September 20 to Sunday, September 22, the
Hungarian Darts Trophy 2024 will be played in Budapest. This tournament is the 11th Euro Tour tournament of the season.
The Hungarian Darts Trophy is scheduled to take place for the fourth time. In 2021,
Gerwyn Price managed to win the very first edition by beating Michael Smith 8-2 in the final. A year later, the title went to Joe Cullen, who was too strong for William O'Connor in a surprising 8-2 final. In 2023, Dave Chisnall took the title by beating
Luke Humphries in the final.
The field of participants consists of 48 players. The top-16 of the seeding list are directly admitted to the second round. These names include
Michael van Gerwen, Dave Chisnall, Ross Smith, Luke Humphries, Gerwyn Price and teenage sensation
Luke Littler.
Furthermore, players such as Jonny Clayton, Michael Smith, Raymond van Barneveld, Peter Wright, James Wade, Dimitri van den Bergh and Nathan Aspinall have received invitations based on their position in the world rankings. They do have to start the Hungarian Darts Trophy from the first round.
The remaining sixteen participants come from the various qualifiers. Among others Dirk van Duijvenbode and Wessel Nijman managed to get through the qualifying tournament for Tour Card holders. Furthermore, Cor Dekker secured his participation by winning the qualifying tournament for players from the Nordic & Baltic region.
