''Final was spoilt before a dart was even thrown'' - Gerwyn Price reacts after losing Premier League Darts final in Manchester

For the first time since the opening week, Gerwyn Price was back in the weekly final of Premier League Darts on Thursday night on the tenth week of play in Manchester.

Price, in his opening match, impressively defeated Peter Wright 6-4 with an average of 107.88. Then 'The Iceman' also won 6-3 over Michael Smith with an average of 102.88 per turn.

However, the good play of the first two matches could not carry the Welshman into the final. That match Price lost 6-3 to Luke Littler. In the final, the former world champion did not exceed an average of 93.07.

What was particularly striking was Price's disinterested attitude on stage. At times, "The Iceman" also threw his arrows away a lot faster than is usually the case.

Afterwards, Price came out with a statement on Instagram, though the former rugby player did not reveal any details. ''Gutted with tonight's ending. Final was spoilt before a dart was even thrown but that's what happens," he writes. "My game is in a great place, we move on. #changeisneeded."

Price then did give the impression that it had nothing to do with the audience present. ''Great crowd and amazing atmosphere. Thanks Manchester,'' Price wrote in closing.
