Boris Krcmar may make his sixth career appearance at the World Darts Championship in December. 'The Biggest,' as his nickname goes, was the best at the qualifying tournament for Eastern European darts on Saturday.
The field of participants consisted of a disappointing 33 players, most of whom were of Slovak nationality. Slovaks Adrian Dudek and Juraj Holub performed best with a quarterfinal place. In the end, three Croatians and one Slovenian managed to reach the semifinals. Krcmar managed to win 7-3 over Slovenian Benjamin Pratnemer in the last four, while Tomislav Rosandic proved too strong for his compatriot Romeo Grbavac 7-5.
The final became an exciting Croatian clash, in which Krcmar showed his class in the end. Krcmar initially led 3-0, but then lost four legs in a row. The multiple world soft-tip champion then turned the 3-4 deficit into a 5-4 lead, before it became clear at 6-6 that a deciding leg was needed. In it, Krcmar fired an 11-darter to qualify for the World Darts Championship.
Krcmar was last there at Alexandra Palace two seasons ago. Back then, Krcmar also managed his best World Championship result by surprisingly making it to the last 32. He also had qualified for the WDF version weeks ago but couldn't make it due to Super Darts in Asia meaning he couldn't travel there and back.
