Gary Anderson and Luke Humphries will not be in action this weekend at the Austrian Darts Open in Graz. The PDC reports that the two World Darts Championship winners have withdrawn due to personal reasons.
Anderson just last weekend won the European Darts Grand Prix in Sindelfingen, while Humphries managed to win the German Darts Grand Prix in Munich in early April. Both players are already certain of qualifying for the European Darts Championship later this year, so they can safely skip a Euro Tour tournament.
Due to the cancellation of these players, Krzysztof Ratajski and Joe Cullen have gained seeded status, and will enter from the second round. The two vacant spots will be filled by Ricky Evans and Richard Veenstra, the two highest-ranked players on the reserve list.
The Austrian Darts Open 2024 will be played from April 26 to 28. It will be the tenth edition of this tournament, which was held for the first time back in 2012. The Austrian Darts Open in 2012 was also the first ever Euro Tour tournament. Justin Pipe won the tournament. After that, Michael van Gerwen (2013, 2017, 2019 and 2022), Vincent van der Voort (2014), Phil Taylor (2016) and Jonny Clayton (2018 and 2023) also managed to capture this title.
