Gary Anderson takes over top spot on Players Championship Order of Merit from Dirk van Duijvenbode

Gary Anderson has taken over first place from Dirk van Duijvenbode on the Players Championship Order of Merit. 'The Flying Scotsman' took the title in Barnsley on Wednesday and reached the quarter-finals on Thursday, while the Dutchman missed the first two days of play in Barnsley due to an arm injury.

Anderson leads the rankings with 74,750 pounds, while Gerwyn Price is second with 67,250 pounds. Dirk van Duijvenbode is now third with 62,250 pounds, and Luke Humphries is fourth with 60,500 pounds.

Michael van Gerwen sits all the way down in 32nd, while Nathan Aspinall won't even qualify sitting 92nd for Minehead. Peter Wright has shown some sign of life but sits 76th and likely needs two more good runs to even get into the top 64. So there is a danger that two of the top stars won't be involved at the end of November.

With four more Players Championship tournaments to go, the denouement of the Players Championship season is approaching. The top-64 of the rankings will compete in the Players Championship Finals in Minehead at the end of November.
