Gemma Hayter adds second PDC Women's Series title of 2024, defeats Mikuru Suzuki in Event 19 final

Gemma Hayter broke new ground earlier this year by sealing her maiden PDC Women's Series title and she has another to add to her collection. She sealed Event 19 earlier on Sunday afternoon.

Hayter defeated Mikuru Suzuki in the final who could've handed Fallon Sherrock a hammer blow in her pursuit of the World Championship spot. But instead it was Sherrock's MODUS stablemate who sealed the title.

It was a tough run through as well for the ever improving Hayter who has been backed by Luke Humphries. She saw off Vicky Pruim 4-1, before then defeating Aileen de Graaf (4-2), Fallon Sherrock (4-2), Sharona Veld (5-0) and Lisa Ashton (5-0). She also stops the back-to-back run of Beau Greaves who stood out yesterday.

The ladies can earn prize money with their results. These performances count toward the final rankings. The best player gets to compete at the Grand Slam of Darts, while the top two also receive an invitation to the World Darts Championship. The event also counts toward the qualification cycle toward the Women's World Matchplay in 2025. The top eight of this ranking may compete in that tournament.

Participants over this weekend include top favorites Fallon Sherrock and Beau Greaves. These ladies will face competition from Mikuru Suzuki, Lisa Ashton, Laura Turner, Lorraine Winstanley and Noa-Lynn van Leuven, among others.

How can I watch the PDC Women's Series?

The matches on the streaming track are broadcast via PDCTV. To do so, you need to create an account and purchase a subscription. A monthly subscription costs £9.99, while an annual subscription is also available for £59.99. 

Also, live streams are available through various betting sites. With these websites, you usually need a balance of at least five euros to access the stream offerings.

How much prize money is up for grabs at the PDC Women's Series?

If at least 128 players participate, the PDC Women's Series participants will be awarded prizes from the last 64, with fifty pounds for reaching this round. If there are fewer than 128 players, the counter only starts running from the last 32. In that case they do collect one hundred pounds.

This amount eventually keeps increasing. A final place already earns 1,000 pounds anyway. The winner of the tournament gets £2000 in prize money.
