Gerwyn Price and Peter Wright among notable first round losers at Players Championship 15

The first round at the fifteenth Players Championship tournament of the season has now been completed. For a number of notable names, it's already time to go home.
Most notable of those to depart are the former World Darts Championship winning pair, Gerwyn Price and Peter Wright. For the Welshman, a 6-2 defeat to Darren Beveridge marked a disappointing day on the Pro Tour, whilst for the Scot, it was a 6-4 defeat to Mike De Decker that sent Wright packing.
In terms of the early winners, Luke Littler recorded a 6-4 victory over Boris Krcmar in his tie, whilst for Luke Humphries, it was a 6-4 over Paul Krohne. Eleswhere, Gary Anderson secured a spot in the second round with a 6-2 win over Andy Boulton and Ross Smith made a blazing start to the tournament. 'Smudger' left Maik Kuivenhoven defenseless 6-2 by posting an average of 113.23. Among other things, the Englishman threw three 12-darters in this match.
A total of 125,000 pounds in prize money is distributed at each Players Championship tournament. The winner of the event will receive a check for 15,000 pounds.

- It seems odd that at the World Championship they have dancing ladies in hot pants and pom poms and yet the walk on ladies who were much more elegantly attired get removed from the scene. I met Daniella at Silverstone when she was a grid girl in the F1 race and was very pleasant indeed. It is a massive shame when you lose the ability to earn or be in the public eye due to bullsheet politics.richieburnettrocks12-09-2024
