Gerwyn Price fumes after losing final: ''I felt I should have won this game"

Gerwyn Price failed to win the International Darts Open for the fifth time Sunday night. In the final of the Euro Tour tournament in Riesa, 'The Iceman' lost to Martin Schindler.

Price twice gained a break lead in the final, but lost his break almost immediately each time. In the tenth leg he was broken, after which the Welshman lost 8-5 to his German opponent.

The former world champion did not hide his disappointment afterwards. ''I’m a little bit disappointed in myself,'' Price said on the podium during the awards ceremony. ''I felt I should have won this game, but fair play to Martin, he’s a fantastic player and he played well there.''

Price then regretted that the crowd did not support him in the final, after 'The Iceman' had been heavily encouraged by the German fans in every match just before that. ''All this tournament the crowd have been on my side and the stats against me (in the final) are the crowd. Martin's a fantastic player, and Gabriel, and every German player's brilliant, but the crowd is an advantage.,'' Price said.
