Gerwyn Price snaps Luke Humphries' TV winning run to reach semis in Bahrain as Michael Smith keeps title defence alive

We have our first two semi-finalists at the 2024 Bahrain Darts Masters. Gerwyn Price and Michael Smith are through after 6-4 and 6-1 wins over Luke Humphries and Peter Wright respectively.

The first quarter-final tie of the evening was a repeat of last year's World Grand Prix final. On that occasion, Luke Humphries was victorious, taking the first of his major title haul that has since grown to four, but in Bahrain, it was Price who emerged victorious, snapping the newly-crowned world champion's TV winning run at 20 matches.

Although Price was ahead throughout, the Welshman struggled to finish the deal, missing a handful of darts at the bullseye, double 2 and double 1. With Humphries unable to punish and send the match into a deciding leg however, missing a number of doubles himself, 'The Iceman' finally pinned double 1 to seal the win and book his spot in the semi-finals.

In the second quarter-final of the evening, Peter Wright and Michael Smith battled it out. Both of these haven't been in the best form of late but it was Smith, the reigning Bahrain Darts Masters champion who raced out the blocks, taking the opening two legs in 14 and 11 darts.

Although Wright broke straight back to make it 2-1, as the match became scrappier, it was Smith who was taking more of his chances and in the end it was a somewhat comfortable victory, 6-1.
