Gian van Veen failed to win his second group match at the
Grand Slam of Darts to eradicate any chance of qualification through the group. He went down on Sunday afternoon against Nathan Rafferty, after losing to Ryan Searle (5-4) on Saturday.
The game against the Northern Irishman was one that had to be won to have any hope of reaching the last sixteen of this tournament. Van Veen however faced a Rafferty who played one of the best matches of his career, as his average of 103 showed.

Brendan Dolan on the other hand kept his hopes alive to dent Haruki Muramatsu's chances in Wolverhampton. In the latest Group F contest, it was 5-2 to 'The History Maker'.
Dolan who lost yesterday to Andrew Gilding produced a 97 average, a sole 180 and 38.5% on the outer ring with a high checkout of 121 against the Japanese ace.
Muramatsu's hopes will likely hinge on a match tomorrow with Gilding depending on if he beats Danny Noppert. Noppert put himself in pole position yesterday and will play later in the afternoon aiming to book a latter stage spot.
