Giant gold dart planted in front of Tyne Bridge as Premier League Darts launches

With the Premier League Darts kicking off tonight, the players assembled on Wednesday for their usual media launch with the tournament sponsor BetMGM making a big splash both literally and figuratively down the River Tyne.

Marking the return to Newcastle for Thursday's opening night of Premier League Darts action headlined by a return of the World final in Luke Littler v Gian van Veen, all eight players were quayside to pose with a three-metre tall structure.

This structure as can be seen in the video below was carried down the River Tyne towards its destination and that is a giant gold dart which was planted in front of the Tyne Bridge.

As an extra incentive as was previously confirmed, BetMGM will reward any player who hits a nine-dart finish a set of 18ct gold darts worth £30,000. This was achieved five times in 2025 causing the title sponsor to award £150,000 worth of darts to competitors.

Luke Humphries will aim to complete that feat after winning the Premier League Darts title in 2025. "Newcastle is a really fun place to come for the darts and we’re all excited to get the 2026 BetMGM Premier League Darts campaign underway," he said.

“Seeing BetMGM’s giant dart on the Tyne today with the iconic bridge behind us has set the scene perfectly and I can’t wait to defend the title I won last year, particularly with BetMGM’s 18ct gold darts up for grabs again!”
