The evening session is coming up shortly on the opening day of action at the Gibraltar Darts Trophy 2019 with the likes of Jeffrey de Zwaan, Dimitri van den Bergh and Jose de Sousa all in action.
De Zwaan starts proceedings off facing off against Steve West - who will want to continue his form from the recent Players Championship double header. As a result, 'Simply' could start as the slim favourite.
O'Connor then takes on Chris Dobey - in a battle of two of the most consistent players on the
European Tour. The same can be said for Keegan Brown who takes on Danny Noppert.
It is then the turn of Anthony Lopez who is lucky to be in the event at all after suffering a broken leg due to a motorcycle accident en route to the qualifier yesterday. He faces Michael Rosenauer who has recent experience on the European Tour.
Dimitri van den Bergh is looking for qualification for the European Championship and he will be hoping to win first game to make his chances better. 'The Dreammaker' though faces a player who can always produce his best in Scott Taylor.
Following that it is what some could say is the tie of the day in the form of Darius Labanauskas facing off against Jose de Sousa. The latter in particular recently claimed a maiden PDC ranking title. Expect a closely ran affair.
Robert Thornton returns to the European Tour and he will have the crowd on his back when he takes on another qualifier in David Francis. Then it is recent Czech Darts Open champion Jamie Hughes facing Ritchie Edhouse - who could cause a shock to end the night on the Rock.
