Luke Littler has wrapped up a successful trip to the Middle East. “The Nuke” won the inaugural Saudi Arabia Darts Masters by beating Michael van Gerwen 8-5 in the final. A few days earlier, Littler had bowed out in the quarterfinals of the Bahrain Darts Masters, but he is now putting together a new winning run.
At the Bahrain Darts Masters, Littler saw his 21-match winning streak in televised matches end when he lost in the quarterfinals to Gerwyn Price. However, “The Nuke” did not dwell on it for long and returned to winning ways in Saudi Arabia.
A day after his triumph in Riyadh, Littler also celebrated his nineteenth birthday, and fellow pro Chris Dobey took note. “Hollywood” posted a photo on Instagram of a sleeping Littler on the plane, captioned: “Happy birthday sweetie.”
Littler and Dobey can now turn their attention to the first major of the new season. It starts next week in Milton Keynes, where the Winmau World Masters is on the schedule. It is also one of the few majors Littler has never won. Last year, he went out in the quarterfinals after a defeat to eventual finalist Jonny Clayton.
