''He is a guy who can never show his best game on television": Michael van Gerwen pleased with potential Keane Barry tie at World Darts Championship

Michael van Gerwen will try to capture his fourth world title at the upcoming World Darts Championship. 'Mighty Mike' won his previous world titles in 2014, 2017 and 2019, so he has been dry for several years.

Van Gerwen is already eager to hit the Alexandra Palace again in December. ''Of course I am looking forward to it. It's the biggest tournament of the year and of course you want to perform there.''

Exactly who Van Gerwen will face in the second round remains to be seen. The draw for the World Darts Championship did reveal that the player from Vlijmen will face either Keane Barry or Reynaldo Rivera.

Van Gerwen himself is counting on Barry to be his opponent and the world number two is not dissatisfied with that. ''That's a fast player that suits me. He is a guy who can never show his best game on television. I think that will be to my advantage,'' Van Gerwen said.
