Florian Hempel won the PDC Europe Super League on Friday. With this, the dart player from Cologne secured a spot at the PDC World Darts Championship.
After two group stages, the eight remaining German players battled it out in Hildesheim in a knockout draw for a coveted spot at the Alexandra Palace.
Dragutin Horvat, who threw a nine-darter earlier this week, lost to Hempel (7-5) in the last eight. The latter then also beat Daniel Klose (8-7) for a spot in the final.
In the final match, Hempel faced Niko Springer, who had defeated Ricardo Pietreczko (7-6) and Lukas Wenig (8-6) on the final day. Springer led 6-4 in the final, but saw Hempel come closer at lightning speed after the break. Hempel took an 8-7 lead and then won 10-8.
