Previously the Premier League Darts line-up for the new season which begins in Belfast on February 6 2025 would be announced before the final of the PDC World Darts Championship takes place but again it will take a different tact this year.
It will instead be done as a line-up reveal at least in the UK on Sky Sports News at 16:30 GMT on Monday January 6 giving fans the chance over the weekend to mull over their final line-ups.
In the past the PDC after axing the tradition which was announced by Barry Hearn on the coverage have confirmed it after The Masters for instance which gleamed Chris Dobey a spot. But often it is very much dependent on who is set in the line-up with some years including this year being harder than others it seems.
But at least four out of the eight are already confirmed. Michael van Gerwen, Luke Littler and Luke Humphries are shoe-ins for multiple reasons including being in the top four led by the latter. Rob Cross also has his spot confirmed with the top four qualifying by right automatically.
This means four spots will still be confirmed on Monday during the line-up reveal and with many of the established elite not being on the boil as well as multiple new major winners, it could be an interesting one indeed.
Also there is the factor that Stephen Bunting and also Dobey both reached the semi-finals which could in theory tip themselves in the balance of getting a spot. But all will be set on Monday also on the day that PDC Q-School starts where the next batch of hopefuls aim to join the ranks of the big boys fighting for these spots. As one door closes in the darting calendar, another one opens as 2025 firmly begins.
The 2025 @BetMGMUK Premier League line-up will be revealed on Monday!
