Vincent van der Voort has offered a striking glimpse into his relationship with Kevin Doets. The Dutch darts legend is involved in the podcast Darts Draait Door, which regularly features guests, but one name seems unlikely to join for now. According to Van der Voort, Doets has little interest at the moment because he is angry about earlier remarks made by the former professional darter.

The podcast raised the question which guests Van der Voort and host Damian Vlottes would still like to welcome. The name of Kevin Doets quickly came up, as he is impressing this year with strong performances.
It soon became clear, however, that the chances of Doets taking a seat at the podcast table anytime soon are slim. “No, he’s not coming,” someone suggested. Van der Voort could explain why. “From a reliable source I’ve heard that he’s a bit angry with me.”
The reason lies in comments Van der Voort previously made about Doets’s girlfriend. That happened around a meeting that sparked considerable commotion. Van der Voort acknowledges he was critical at the time. “Yes, I said something about his girlfriend when they had that meeting and everything. That’s right.”
At the same time, the former professional finds it entirely understandable that Doets stands up for his girlfriend. “If he’s angry about that, that’s allowed, right?” he says matter-of-factly. “It’s not as if we now have to shut down the podcast,” is noted during the conversation.
“In the end you don’t mean it like that,” someone says to Van der Voort. He responds plainly. “Yes, I do,” he states. He makes clear he stands by his words, though he says the issue was not meant personally.

For the podcast, it means a possible episode with Doets seems off the table for now. The Dutchman has grown into a mainstay within Dutch darts in recent years and would undoubtedly make for an engaging guest. Van der Voort is keeping the door open, but he won’t be chasing Doets.
“I really don’t mind,” he concludes. The situation remains strikingly level-headed. There is clear irritation on Doets’s side, but Van der Voort does not appear to seek further escalation. Whether the two can eventually set aside their differences remains to be seen.
