Heta recovered from 5-3 down despite 27 missed darts at doubles along the way to edge out 'The Machine' in a brilliant 6-5 win.
He was always going to be a danger in this tournament due to his form in Australia including claiming victory at the BDO Australian Open last week and he proved that against the multiple major champion.
Wade looked good at the start of the match leading 4-2 in the early going including a timely break of throw to go 3-2 up and this included a 121 checkout to extend that lead.
This was extended further despite Heta going to 4-3 behind with a hold of throw with missed doubles blighting the Aussie ace. As a result Wade went one away at 5-3 but Heta kept chipping away at the lead.
As a result he forced a decider with an incredible 164 checkout to break throw and he held to produce the goods in front of his home crowd.
The same couldn't be said for debutant Brendan McCausland who was facing off against former practice partner Simon Whitlock but he couldn't get the edge falling to a 6-1 defeat.
Whitlock raced into a 3-0 lead but missed darts at doubles allowing McCausland a leg in but this didn't lead to anything with 'The Wizard' taking the next three legs to move through in a routine victory.
