Damon Heta has reached a final and a semi-final so far this year on the ProTour as one of the most consistent players so far in the 2022 season.
"Just a steady start I'd say. I put a bit of time in straight after the World's, I didn't really have too many days off, just wanted to hit the ground running," said Heta to Tungsten Tales.
"We had that little break and I would have loved to have gone home but it just wasn't feasible so the next best thing was throw darts. I had Ben Robb stay here, he was doing Q-School and then they had Challenge Tour, him and Haupai (Puha) so kept at the board."
Still pleased with 2021 efforts
But despite heading out early at the World's, he was glad with his efforts in 2021.
"I still feel I played pretty decent through last year. I did better than my first year ranking wise, I made most TV tournaments. Just small stepping stones you could say. I had a lot of chances to go further in the bigger TV tournaments, it didn't happen for me but there's some big learning curves."
Clear goals
Now though, he has clear goals in 2022 to keep up momentum on the ProTour so that everything else takes care of itself.
"The first priority is to keep in the top 16 of the ProTours. If I could keep in that, I'd be pretty stoked because everything after that takes care of itself. That's a pretty tall order."
"Keep going that step further than the previous year. Obviously the end goals take care of themselves."
