The tenth edition of the
World Series of Darts Finals will take place from Friday, September 13 to Sunday, September 15 at the AFAS Live in Amsterdam. The highest average ever at this tournament has been in the name of
Mervyn King since the 2021 edition.
The Englishman threw an average of 115.62 in his match against James Wade during the 2021 World Series of Darts Finals. Thanks to this average, King won 6-0 over "The Machine," who himself threw only 86.13 average, making the difference in average almost thirty points.
The old record was held by
Dave Chisnall, who recorded a average of 112.94 in 2016, when he triumphed 6-4 against Kim Huybrechts.
Jamie Lewis rounds out the top three. The Welshman won against Dimitri van den Bergh (6-2) in 2018 with an average of 109.82.
Behind the surprising top three,
Michael van Gerwen holds no fewer than four of the remaining seven listings in the top-10. 'Mighty Mike's best match at the World Series of Darts Finals dates back to 2016. That year, Van Gerwen managed a 10-0 win over Simon Whitlock with an average of 109.71. Four times Van Gerwen has already thrown an average of at least 108 at the World Series of Darts Finals, as the Dutchman has further averages of 108.83, 108.69 and 108.00 to his name.
Peter Wright is the only remaining player with a 108+ average at the final tournament of the World Series circuit. 'Snakebite' threw a 108.10 average in his lost match against Gerwyn Price (6-11) at the 2020 edition. The other names in the top-10 are Michael Smith (107.40 in 2022) and Phil Taylor (107.34 in 2016).
