What is the PDC Pro Tour?
The Players Championship circuit is a vital part of the PDC Pro Tour, comprising 34 events in 2025. These ‘floor tournaments’ form the backbone of the season for the 128 PDC Tour Card holders, offering prize money, ranking points, and qualification pathways to major televised events.
If a Tour Card holder withdraws, the field is topped up with the highest-ranked players from the Challenge Tour Order of Merit – ensuring a consistently competitive line-up at every event.
These tournaments don’t just provide income and match sharpness; they also play a direct role in qualification for premier events such as:
- PDC World Darts Championship
- Players Championship Finals (qualification based solely on this series)
In addition to this week’s events in Leicester, Players Championship tournaments are being staged throughout the year at venues in Wigan, Rosmalen, Hildesheim, and Milton Keynes. The 2025 season began on 10–11 February in Wigan and will wrap up with the final two events there on 29–30 October.
