Tuesday September 9 and Wednesday September 10 see the next two
Players Championship tournaments scheduled. Both will take place at a familiar haunt for the ProTour in Halle 39 in Hildesheim. Also the home of a European Tour. It can all be followed too on PDCTV.
Only Luke Humphries, Chris Dobey and Josh Rock decided to skip last time out and it is more big names this time as expected who have decided not to make the trip. But Luke Humphries, Nathan Aspinall, Gerwyn Price and Michael van Gerwen subject to late withdrawals will all play in Germany.
Luke Littler, Stephen Bunting and Josh Rock lead a slew of absentees. Albeit some who played in Prague over the weekend may still not travel. Price is one who will definitely play, he has already posted on social media his travel schedule as he hot foots it over from the Czech Republic to Germany to play.
But as a result of these withdrawals often throughout the year, it has led to a lot of different names rising to the fore and sealing titles and also some being in trouble for Minehead.
Follow Players Championship 26 and 27 via our live scores!Michael van Gerwen for instance needs good runs. He has often played on the ProTour but due to the high standard, he oftens gets bundled out early and is in 99th spot with the top 64 qualifying for Minehead. Luke Humphries is only in the last spot while Littler who is absent only sits in 54th.
Nathan Aspinall also is in 75th and with only a few more ProTours all in Leicester and Wigan to go, it is very much go time for many especially with the majors piling up. Otherwise those big names will be forced to play most of the events or will just skip Minehead in a big talking point. So the onus is now on them to qualify.
