The race to the World Matchplay is on with the final tournaments set to take place next week at the latest Super Series and one player who will be hoping to force his way into the line-up is Jamie Hughes.
Hughes has reached a semi-final, a quarter-final and several Last 32's during this year's ProTour events and a good week in Milton Keynes would see him go into pole position for a tournament, he is 'desperate' to return to.
“The World Matchplay is one of the biggest events in darts, with so much history. I loved my time in Blackpool two years ago and I’m desperate to qualify again. I will be giving it everything this week at the Super Series to give myself the best chance to qualify," he said to Red Dragon Darts.
“Having only experienced the Blackpool crowds once, it’s something I’ll never forget and after more than a year without playing in front of any crowds I know everyone will want to grab one of the 32 places, so its up to me to work hard & get myself into the qualification places.”
