Although he may have ended Any Baetens winning run at the Belgian Darts Open in a tight third round encounter, Luke Humphries has lauded praise onto his Belgian opponent.
“He's so good. He is now number 1 on the WDF darts circuit, but he should make the switch to the PDC circuit. He is ready in every way," said Humphries following his 6-5 victory. "Even with a 5-3 lead I really had to fight to win the game. It's a dream to play here. People come to see good darts and not to jeer at the players. No, this is undoubtedly the best thing I've ever experienced.”
Baetens as well had some nice words to say about his opponent before giving an insight into his future plans.
“It was good again today, but Humphries deserved this win. I'm good enough for the PDC, but we'll see about that later," said 'the Beast' who defeated Jermaine Wattimena and Andrew Gilding to reach the third round. "It was a rollercoaster all week long. I did my best today, but so be it. I've had a match dart, if it's in it... Back to work soon. Back to reality."
