After four lost Euro Tour finals in 2023,
Luke Humphries finally managed to capture his first European Tour title of the season last weekend.
That was at the expense of Dirk van Duijvenbode. The Dutchman had four matchdarts in the final of the European Darts Matchplay in Trier, but could not capitalize on them. Then it was Humphries who won 8-7.
''To pick up my fifth European Tour title last weekend was a big moment,'' Humphries reflected on his triumph in Trier last weekend in an interview with the PDC.
The 28-year-old Englishman is very happy with his current level of form. ''I think my game is probably in the best shape it has ever been in. Last year I won five titles, but I personally think I am playing better than I was last year."
This weekend in Warsaw, ''Cool Hand Luke'' is aiming for his first World Series title at the
Poland Darts Masters. ''It’s a privilege to be here and be part of these massive events and I’m really looking forward to it. These are great tournaments to be a part of because they’re not just about the darts, we’re trying to grow the sport as a whole in different parts of the world.”
