Luke Humphries has become the first man to book their spot in the final four of the
World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam. 'Cool Hand Luke' is through after routing an out-of-sorts
Rob Cross 10-2.
Breaking throw in the opening leg, Humphries set the tone for the first session early on. It wasn't as if Cross hadn't had chances, but on every occasion that key dart at double was lacking for 'Voltage' early on. At the end of the first session, Humphries led 5-0 and was in complete control.
After the break, it was more of the same for Humphries as he extended his lead to six. Despite a handful more missed darts at double in leg 7, Cross finally got himself off the mark on double 4. Humphries held to move 7-1 up and after Cross missed a dart at double 8 for a 127 checkout in the next leg, 'Cool Hand Luke' was on hand to punish and move two legs away from victory.
In the final leg before the second interval, Humphries took his tally of 180s to five and in just eleven legs went to the brink of victory at 9-1 ahead. A brilliant 138 checkout from Cross saw him pull a leg back after the break, but it proved nothing more than a consolation as just one leg later Humphries secured a dominant victory.
