Kim Huybrechts came through a closely ran affair with Geert Nentjes on the opening night of action at the 2020 PDC World Championship.

Huybrechts spoke afterwards and said that a lot of thoughts were running through his mind during the match which shows how quickly it flipped from one player to another.

"That was a scrap, that's the least you can say. There were times in this game that I was thinking I'm going to win it easy then there was times I was thinking I don't have a chance. So many things go through your mind and it's unbelievable sometimes what can go through your mind in three or four seconds," said Huybrechts to LiveDarts.

'The Hurricane' also admitted that he is going into this tournament with a new mindset and hopes that it will prove beneficial going forward.

He also said that after dropping out of the World's top 32 that he firmly believes he belongs in the higher echelons of the rankings and that his quest to get back there begins now.

"I was thinking this World Championship I'm going to give myself a free ride and if I don't do good, I don't do good. I'm not going to blame myself."

"As soon as you go on that stage and you play like I did terrible and you start going like how is this possible and the winner in you comes up and you start blaming yourself and you start having a go at yourself during the match. That isn't a good thing, I need to get rid of that and start to enjoy myself again."

"I know I belong in the top 16. It's very frustrating, I'm going to work hard to get there again."
