Damon Heta has openly stated that his ultimate goal is to advance to the top four in the world rankings. The Australian dart player dreams aloud of a spot in the prestigious Premier League Darts.
The world number ten experienced a strong run at the US Darts Masters last weekend, where he reached the semifinals with an average of 104. Yet 'The Heat' had to bow to Nathan Aspinall, despite a fine 170 finish.
Heta is in excellent form this year. He previously won Players Championship 13 and reached the final of the European Darts Open.
Moreover, the Australian is convinced that a busy playing schedule will not break him, should he receive an invitation to Premier League Darts. According to Heta, life as a professional darts player is nothing compared to his former job on the rooftops of Perth.
Premier League Darts
In the podcast Tops and Tales he said: "Yeah, I’d love getting into that top four and the Premier League. I find myself pretty conditioned where I don’t think I would be one to be burnt out.
“Players talk about burnout and playing too much. But I practice pretty much four hours every day, two here and two there minimum — sometimes even more.
“I always look back and think, you know what I did? I did 12-hour days, six days a week, roofing. If I can’t chuck darts for 12 hours a day, you know what I mean? Because I can always compare to back then.”
Wacky
Heta continues: “If I’m ever down about where I am or what I’m doing, I just think I’ve come this far.
“I could be doing this or that. Man, I’m very lucky. I’m throwing darts for a living and I’m travelling. Even doing an exhibition — you get paid half decent to do an exhibition.
“People want to come see you for four or five hours to chuck some darts and have a bit of fun. Man, that’s insane.”
Heta, a former World Cup winner with Simon Whitlock, currently records the fourth-highest checkout percentage on the PDC Tour: an impressive 43.13% in 2025.
Next week 'The Heat' can be seen in action again at the Players Championships at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester.
