Luke Littler is through to the semi-finals of the Grand Slam of Darts and wasted little time in booking his spot into the longest day of the darting year with two long form games potentially to come.
He thrashed Jermaine Wattimena 16-2 with the Dutchman not standing a chance amid a barrage from 'The Nuke' who hit a 105 average in sweeping him aside in the largest winning margin in a Grand Slam Quarter-Final ever. It got the reaction to match from the 17-year-old who called himself 'unbeatable' afterwards.
"Feel unbeatable in myself. Obviously when you're playing that well, you just feel like no one can stop you and that goes to show that Jermaine couldn't get close. He was missing darts for ton plus checkouts, he had to take those chances but he didn't," said Littler post match.
"When it was 8-2, I come back on and just went don't switch off, just keep on going. But he was at me every leg near enough. I knew myself I couldn't switch off."
But he nearly made it perfect with a nine-darter missed, a part of the game that frustrated him. "When you're playing that good, you can just feel it coming. But it's that double 12, you see me on that 84, I just hit the double 12 and I'm thinking why didn't you do that for the nine."
"I know myself that I was unbeatable in legs. I was going out in 11, 12 and like I said there, you can't switch off in these games."
But a scary thought going into his clash with Gary Anderson is his want to go even better and also he has the Order of Merit well in mind.
"I'm climbing up the world rankings now and that's always another big thing leading into the World Championship."
"I'd love to go even better than tonight (Saturday). I just settled myself, Jermaine's obviously a very quick thrower but I was taking that one or two second stepping back and then throwing so I didn't gas myself out."
