The wait goes on for Fallon Sherrock in her quest to replicate the heroics of 2020 PDC World Darts Championship. On Tuesday night, Sherrock fell to her fourth successive defeat on the Ally Pally stage, losing out 3-2 to Ryan Meikle.
There was a lot of clamour mainly from the tabloid media and broadcasters surrounding a potential Luke Littler v Fallon Sherrock clash when the PDC World Darts Championship draw was made. But it will instead be Meikle facing the favourite for the title on Saturday. Sherrock nearly gave the fans a reason to dream. She opened with the first set and looked superb as Meikle flattered to deceive. But his game got better and Sherrock's didn't which, in the end, proved pivotal. Now it will be Meikle who has already toppled one player highly favoured by the crowd who will have to do so again.

"It just wasn't to be my night in the end," Sherrock reflected in a post on her official social media pages immediately following her defeat on the big stage, making a special mention to the narrowly missed 170 checkout, that could have dramatically sent the match to a deciding leg. "Congratulations to Ryan, I just wish that bullseye for the big fish would have gone in!"
Rather than getting too downhearted though, 'The Queen of the Palace' is already looking forward to her next goals. "I'll be back in 2025 and I'll be looking for more success on the PDC Women's Series, and to make the Grand Slam and World Championship again," she says determinedly. "Thanks as always for your support, it's been incredible."
Notably, the second round tie between Meikle and Littler takes place in the evening session of Saturday, December 21st.
