After winning the Masters, it was a swift turnaround for Chris Dobey who was announced in the line-up for the 2023
Premier League Darts in the hours that followed.
Dobey spoke to the PDC just before the announcement and was ecstatic to be involved in the darting roadshow which begins tonight in Belfast.
“It’s not sunk in yet. My phone has not stopped ringing,” revealed Dobey.
“It’s a great feeling to win my first TV title, but to get the call for the Premier League, it’s amazing.
“I remember getting the call a couple of days before the contenders in Newcastle a few years back.
“It’s kind of the same scenario, but this time it’s for the full duration, so it was a great call to receive!”
Speaking further, 'Hollywood' believes that it shows he is part of the elite and that it will make him a better player no matter what.
“It is everybody’s dream to play at the top level,” added Dobey.
“I’ve said from day one that you’ve not made it until you get in the Premier League, and I’m there amongst the best. It is a special feeling.
“I think the Premier League is going to make me a better player, whether I win or lose. This experience is going to be something else, and it’s a challenge I am looking forward to.”
