"I want to be at Ally Pally, I want to get to the Grand Slam": Fallon Sherrock won't dwell on Women's World Matchplay result too long

Fallon Sherrock failed to win the Women's World Matchplay for the second time in her career. The 2022 winner went down 6-3 this time in the final against Beau Greaves.

Sherrock had struggled to reach the final, surviving several match darts in the semifinals to eventually win 5-4 over Lisa Ashton. In the final, however, she came up against an amazing Greaves, who posted an average of 98.75. Sherrock herself remained stuck at 87.60.

"Beau is a quality player, and I couldn’t keep up with her in that final,” said Sherrock.

“I think we are the two best players in the women’s game at the moment, and hopefully our performances encourage other people to come into the game.

Sherrock does not want to dwell too long on this defeat, however, and is already looking ahead to the rest of the year. "I’m so excited to see how I perform in the second half of the year, because I want to be at Ally Pally, I want to get to the Grand Slam, so I’m going to take confidence from making this final.”

The top 2 in the Women's Series qualify for the World Darts Championship. If the winner of the Women's World Matchplay (i.e., Greaves) finishes first in the Women's Series, the runner-up (like Greaves) in the final standings may also advance to the Grand Slam of Darts.
