The lineup for the 2025 Premier League Darts has been confirmed by the PDC. As always, not everyone is happy with eight players selected. For example, following the announcement on Monday, the name of Damon Heta trended on social media as darts fans seemingly gave their backing to the Australian number one after he missed out.

The top 4 in the PDC Order of Merit took their customary place, Like Humphries, Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen and Rob Cross never really had their selection in doubt. In truth, neither did world number 5 Stephen Bunting. The last three selections were a bit harder to predict, but in the end the PDC opted for Chris Dobey, Gerwyn Price and Nathan Aspinall.

This of course, didn't leave all fans happy as players such as Michael Smith, Peter Wright, Dave Chisnall, Jonny Clayton, Mike de Decker, Ritchie Edhouse and others missed out. As mentioned though, online at least, most of fans' disappointment seemed aimed at the snub of Australian number one Heta. Now, The Heat himself has spoken out on the decision.

"Well as usual there’s a lot of of strong feelings surrounding the PL pickings (I don’t trend very often)," the Aussie writes on his official social media channels, honest about how he bever truly believed in his chances despite much speculation. "I wasn’t expecting to be picked in the PL & I know I wasn’t even in the talks with the board for it but I appreciate every single one of you who put me in their lineup & had faith I was going to be there."

"I didn’t move to England to play PL & I have been pretty open about that over the years," Heta adds in conclusion. "If it happens one day it happens but I’ll continue to work hard & what will be will be."

No, I wasn't expecting Heta to be in it either having won nothing of any significance. Although he is charismatic and has personality unlike the boring and dull as dishwater Dobey. It is quite pathetic and desperate the way Bunting and Arsepinall pander to the crowd to dance to their walk on music, that has worked though. I would like to see more players involved on a weekly basis similar to the Modus Super Series. A knockout tournament with 16 winners from each week. The Premier league is too boring with the same players. Plus it would eliminate all the whining and booing from unselected players.
