"I wouldn't put it past me" - Beau Greaves hints she may return to Lakeside again in 2024 to defend her crown

Beau Greaves has successfully defended her World Championship crown at the Lakeside. The 19-year-old Englishwoman defeated Aileen de Graaf 4-1 in the final.

"This is obviously what I came here for," Greaves began in her post-match interview. "I'm just so happy that I got out in front and played well. I didn't want to start off slow and go behind. I'm happy that I got in front of such a great player."

Greaves came to Lakeside as the defending champion. "Last year, coming into it I hadn't won it and obviously winning that was absolutely massive. I'd come off the off the back of a really bad spell and to be able to go up there and be fluent was really nice," she recalls. "This year, it's a bit different. Coming in as champion, everyone wants to beat you and all that, but I just relaxed, prepared well and I absolutely loved it. I felt probably more comfortable this year. My averages were okay, the games went well and what more could you want being 19 and being a twice world champion."

Greaves had to choose between participating in the PDC World Championship and that of the WDF, has her victory proven she's made the right choice? "I've said before, I've just always wanted to be a multiple world champion and not just be a one hit wonder type thing you know," she explains.

But will she be back this time next year? "I wouldn't put it past me. It's a hard one. The Women's Series is obviously a great opportunity for the ladies and stuff but this is a World Championship and obviously, I will want to come back next year. I'm only 19, I've got a long way to go yet but we'll see how things go in the New Year."
