Chris Dobey has made a winning start to his World Series of Darts return in 2025, storming to a dominant and comprehensive 6-0 victory over Bahrain's World Cup of Darts staple, Basem Mahmood in the opening round on Thursday night.
Dobey, who reached the semi-finals of the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship and is set to return to the Premier League Darts in the coming year, was emphatic on the outer ring, with a clinical success rate on the doubles being a key feature of 'Hollywood's victory. He hit 6/8 in claiming the win with four 180's also showing a deft touch also on both scoring and doubles.

"It felt good," reflected a happy Dobey in his post-match interview afterwards, in quotes collected by the PDC. "I played well and my doubles were going in, so I'm happy. I'm delighted to be here and hopefully I can keep performing like this."
In the quarter-finals of the 2025 Bahrain Darts Masters, Dobey now faces off against another of the Premier League Darts' returning stars, Stephen Bunting. after 'The Bullet' defeated Indian number one Nitin Kumar 6-2 in his own first round tie at the Bahrain International Circuit.

- Likewise, I have always been a fan of Mervyn and with this worry on his mind, it explains why his form and ranking plummeted. It is really sad to hear this, often chatted to Mervyn and Tracey during the Lakeside days, both are lovely people. It does seem naive not acknowledging the fact it was earnings, surely there must be others in the same situation. - What’s with the dogs element to this story, trying to pull at the heart strings? Just goes to show that being a good dart player does not equate to being that bright. Seriously, ‘I thought you didn’t have to pay tax on winnings’ , your a pro dart player and its your line of work, your not playing the lottery or placing a bet. - The thing is... the folks who "humiliated" Taylor in the Seniors Events never really achieved anything in the important events - like Taylor did. Taylor had/has nothing to prove... and beating Taylor after he had retired is of zero value. Taylor in his prime would have made easy work of all of them. Cheers.MrYnyslas197107-03-2025
