James Wade has a big rest of the year when it comes to darts, but for the time being 'The Machine' is spending time with his family as he celebrates another Halloween. He posted himself on
social media in his chosen attire but did not look overly pleased with it.
With no darts events on this weekend, the Englishman put his arrows down and made the most of the celebrations. This prominently involves dressing up, and the theme in his household comes from the popular movie Shrek.
Posing as the main protagonist in the movie, Lord Farquaad, Wade fitted the bill perfectly with a black wig to go alongside the red outfit. Standing next to him was his wife, Sammi Marsh, who was Princess Fiona, seemed a lot more satisfied with her chosen outfit than Wade.
The pictures were posted onto Instagram with Wade's synonymous sense of humour showcased with grumpy facial expressions fitting his real-life character perfectly, from what many fans know from him on the oche.
In the next slide, he stood alongside his two sons, both also dressed up and seemingly happier with their costumes. The caption read, "I’m feeling I may have pulled the short straw in this family Halloween costume," with the first picture being a warning from Wade to "Don't Laugh."
Soon back to serious business
Wade will be dearly hoping to get back to darts with a bang after a recent blip in results. He won the Australian Darts Masters and Flanders Darts Trophy in a scintillating period of form between July and August before making it to the semi-final of the World Grand Prix, losing 5-3 to the eventual champion Luke Humphries.
He has since won just one match in four events, losing at the opening hurdle of the Swiss Darts Trophy and European Championship before picking up a single win between
Players Championship 31 and 32. Fortunately, his spot in Minehead is not under threat.
He will be in Leicester getting that final practice in later next week at PC 33 and 34 ahead of a return to the Grand Slam of Darts. A three-time finalist, Wade is yet to taste success in the event. With Premier League Darts places on the line, a deep run in the event could be pivotal for Wade to make a return to the elite after four years out.
