"I'm not one of those that is just happy to turn up" - Danny Lauby keen to make an impact at US Darts Masters 2025

This weekend, the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City plays host to the 2025 US Darts Masters — the fourth stop on this year’s World Series of Darts. Alongside a star-studded cast of PDC professionals, a handful of North American hopefuls will also step onto the big stage. Among them is American Tour Card holder Danny Lauby Jr, who’s dreaming of a statement performance in front of a home crowd.

Lauby, who earned his PDC Tour Card at the start of 2024, currently sits 86th in the world rankings. With plenty of work still ahead if he’s to retain his card by year’s end, this weekend may not offer ranking points — but it presents a golden opportunity to build momentum for the crucial second half of the season.

“It feels great. It's a privilege,” Lauby told the PDC ahead of his return to the States. “I don’t often get to come home enough. But I'm honestly looking forward to it and it's going to be a good event. I have good feelings about it."

Though the tournament isn’t part of the PDC’s ranking circuit, it carries major significance for the 32-year-old. After a mixed showing alongside Jules van Dongen at the recent World Cup of Darts — where the USA beat Bahrain but fell to Hong Kong, exiting in the group stage — Lauby sees this as a key moment to reset.

Now based in England, Lauby is relishing the rare chance to compete on American soil. And while he enters the tournament as one of the underdogs, he’s not there to simply make up the numbers.

“I need a win," he laughs. "I'm happy to be home, but I'm not one of those that is just happy to turn up. I don't show up expecting to lose."

"I'd hope to have had some better wins leading up to this, but I'm just looking to win. That's it. It is nice to be able to do it at home, but the sky is the limit. That's how I'm looking at it. Nowhere to go but up," he concludes.
