In-form Noppert eases past Ratajski, Gawlas through on European Championship debut against Murnan

Danny Noppert and Adam Gawlas are the latest players through to the Last 16 at the 2021 European Championship as the first round continues to draw to a close.

Noppert who reached the semi-finals of the World Grand Prix last week faced another player who reached the latter stages in Krzysztof Ratajski.

But it was continued brilliance from the Dutchman who averaged 102.5 in sweeping aside Ratajski 6-2.

This with four 180's and 6/10 on his doubles in a complete display and will now face Michael Smith or Ryan Searle in the next round.

While a tie with Gerwyn Price could await the Czech youngster Gawlas after he edged past Joe Murnan.

It was a 6-4 victory for the former World Youth finalist who impressed during the truncated European Tour and did so again against an experienced opponent in Murnan.

Murnan himself pulled it back after going 2-0 down initially with a stunning 167 checkout but averaging just 79, he watched as Gawlas pulled away at 4-2.

It was once again sudden heroics for Murnan as he hit a 102 checkout to make it 5-3 and held with a 14-darter but this proved a consolation comeback as Gawlas claimed it.
