It's been quite a ride for René Eidams this weekend... He lost in the first round in 4 of the 5 tournaments. The one time he didn't, "The Cube" went on to win the whole event. #ChallengeTour
Last weekend, five tournaments of the PDC Challenge Tour were completed. René Eidams won one of them.
Tournaments six through 10 were on the schedule on the PDC Challenge Tour last weekend. Eidams, who almost pulled off a huge shock in the opening round of the 2016 Darts World Championship by eliminating Michael van Gerwen, went down in the first round of tournaments 6, 8, 9 and 10 each time.
At the seventh tournament, however, the 34-year-old German had much more success. After victories against Ted Evetts, Andy Boulton and Luc Peters, among others, he faced Dutchman Dennie Olde Kalter in the final. Eidams eventually won 5-4 after a particularly exciting final, good for his first tournament victory ever on the PDC Challenge Tour.
Eidams thus also does good business for the Challenge Tour Order of Merit. He is now in eleventh place. The top 2 at the end of the year (after 24 tournaments) receives a Tour Card for the next two years and can also participate in the World Darts Championship;
The Challenge Tour continues on the weekend of June 7, 8 and 9.
