Is the future of English darts in danger in latest Development Tour statistics

Englishman Joshua Richardson is the most recent player to win a Development Tour title as he beat Jurjen Van Der Velde 5-4 in Wigan earlier this month.

The youngster is only the second Englishman to win in the Development Tour this year with Bradley Brooks being the first, making it England's worst year since the tour was established.

The lack of development tour wins for English players could be a worrying sign for the future of English darts and they would have been hoping to see more wins from their nation this year.

Here's how this years two successful English Development Tour win's compares to previous years:

2011: 11

2012: 16

2014: 8

2015: 5

2016: 7

2017: 8

2018: 10

2019: 14

2020: 4

2021: 9

2022: 2

With Bradley Brooks and Joshua Richardson being the only two English Development Tour title winners this year, it gives England their least title winners in the competition ever. This negative statistic is not something that English darts want to have hanging over them.
