''It’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon'' - Michael van Gerwen sticks to own process ahead of Glasgow visit in Premier League Darts

Michael van Gerwen will try to clinch his second consecutive weekly Premier League Darts title in Glasgow on Thursday night. Last week, he was best in Berlin during the second night of the 16-week roadshow.

The three-time world champion successively defeated Nathan Aspinall (6-4), Michael Smith (6-5) and Luke Littler (6-5). ''I think it was a fantastic night for darts [last week], and I was really pleased with my own performance'', said Van Gerwen when he looked back to his performances. ''I played well, especially in the important moments, and I was able to keep the pressure on my opponents.''

Van Gerwen will take on Peter Wright in Glasgow. 'Mighty Mike' will then hope to grab important points for the Premier League Darts ranking, on which Van Gerwen is currently second behind Michael Smith.

''In this format, you have to be good week after week. It’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon. I believe in my own progress and the way forward, but it’s still a long journey'', he added.
