In Rotterdam, the eleventh night of the 2026 Premier League Darts campaign is on the schedule this evening. Defending champion Luke Humphries faces home crowd favourite Gian van Veen in the quarterfinals, and there is plenty at stake for 'Cool Hand Luke' as he arrives at Ahoy with work to do.

After ten of the sixteen nights in the regular league phase of this Premier League Darts season, Humphries is only in seventh place. ‘Cool Hand Luke’ is already five points behind Michael van Gerwen. The top four after sixteen nights qualify for the Play-Offs at London’s iconic O2 Arena.
Last year, Humphries won the Premier League Darts, so he will want to do everything to at least reach the Play-Offs. Or not?
“He isn't running away with things anymore,” Sky Sports analyst Michael Bridge noted on the Love the Darts podcast. "He's getting his life back a bit as well. He's going to Aintree, he's going to Cheltenham..."

Other things besides darts

“I don't think things are getting to him like they used to," Bridge continues. "I think he'll go on a run but I don't think he'd be devastated if he didn't end up making the top 4. Not like it would have a couple of years ago."

Fellow analyst Chris Murphy notes that Humphries is by no means out of the running to reach the Play-Offs after all. “I don't know what the problem is, but something does seem slightly off. Out of all the players outside the playoff places at the moment though, he's the one that could go and win back to back nights and catapult himself back up into those places."
“It's not panic stations just yet, but he is running out of time,” Murphy warned. “Because it's not just winning matches for him now, he needs to wins nights to get through."
