James Wade is the last player into the Quarter-Finals at the 2023
Players Championship Finals after seeing off Dimitri van den Bergh in a 10-6 win in Minehead.
Wade got the job done despite missing 19 darts at the outer ring during the contest with a high checkout of 140 en route. But his return to form continues with the battling win seeing him reach a third consecutive major Quarter-Final.
Wade eased into a 4-1 lead to start the contest. But Van den Bergh looked to find momentum with a sudden 144 checkout to make it 5-3. Wade remained in front at 6-4 in a real gruelling part of the contest with neither player getting the better of the exchanges.
But Wade started to surge slightly ahead. He hit his first 180 and a 140 checkout and had it not been for missed match darts would've won a leg earlier than he did and even then, Van den Bergh had chances to send it even further.
But finally Wade got over the line on his trusty double 10 to book his spot in Sunday's action in Minehead as the latest major champion will be crowned and given that 'The Machine' is coming into form at the right time, will he be able to upset the apple cart going into Ally Pally?
