Despite losing in the final,
Jonny Clayton stood out in terms of averages in
Players Championship 19. It was
Jeffrey de Graaf who picked up the title despite not finding his best game.
Clayton topped the average list after a scintillating display against Rob Cross. He won the final three legs to win 7-4 and seal a second floor final in 2026. In doing so, he averaged a whopping 111.21. Cross himself put in a very respectable performance, averaging 105.97 despite losing. That was the sixth highest of this
Players Championship event.
As for 'The Ferret;, he regularly cropped up in this list. There were just two games where he did not average over 100, putting in a 102.90 average in the second round against Niall Culleton and a 103.75 showing in the third round against Max Hopp.
Last-16 packed with quality as Scutt impresses
Connor Scutt's performance was the pick of the second round action. The Englishman put in a 107.53 average in the second round, which was the third highest of the day, before a 104.42 average in the third round proved on this occasion not to be enough.
The darts went to another level in the last-16 with some insane performances. Notably William O'Connor who put in the second best average of
PC19 with a 108.11 to batter Ross Smith 6-2. PC18 champion Luke Woodhouse also got in on the act with a 106.55 average enroute to defeating Mervyn King 6-2.
Cross also put in that same scoreline with his average just shy of the inform 'Woody' at 106.21. The number one seed Wessel Nijman continued to impress despite falling short at the quarter-final stage. His 104.07 average was good enough to see off James Hurrell 6-1.
In a high quality day of action, Adam Gawlas also appears with a 105.90 average while Cristo Reyes crops up twice in the top 16 averages with 104.25 and 102.20. De Graaf is a notable absentee of this list. He did average over 100 in the final but his day was marred with lower averages and not his best performances. However, timing is a virtue. Many of those last-16 players who averaged big could not replicate that in the latter rounds whereas de Graaf steadily improved and got over the line in flying colours.
