Nick Kenny is through to the second round of the PDC World Darts Championship after completing a debut win over Derk Telnekes 3-2.
It was a hard fought victory for Kenny with two 180's and a high checkout of 119 en route for the Welshman who will now have Jermaine Wattimena in his sights.
To begin the game, it was Telnekes who claimed the early impetus as he made Kenny pay for three missed set darts as he came from 2-0 down to claim it in a decider with a 106 checkout completing the feat.
The Dutchman though was struggling on doubles with only 19% as Kenny made it 1-1 in consecutive legs.
Telnekes though began to motor and went 2-1 up in sets and towards the finishing line taking it in a deciding leg.
But Kenny wasn't down and out as he took out a 90 checkout on the bull followed by a 119 checkout to level the match at two sets a piece.
This proved pivotal as Kenny took the final set in consecutive legs pinning a 25 checkout to complete the turnaround.
